STRUCTURAL SYSTEMS AND DESIGN-2
( FORM ACTIVE SYSTEM)
SECOND YEAR ( ODD SEMESTER)
CO1.
Understand proper use and reference of codes and standards codes for cables,
wires, ropes and fabric and building materials.
CO2.
Determine structural systems compatible with architectural design and other
engineering disciplines.
CO3.
Identify structural loadings and other structural design criteria like, sag,
rise, horizontal thrust.
CO4.
Understand form active structure systems, acting mainly through the form of its
material, such as an arch or cable system. these structural systems are exposed
to single stress condition (compression or tension)
CO5.
Identify and understand different materials used in tents/pneumatic/cable
structures and arches /vaults/domes masonry structures and codes related to the
same construction. *
CO6.
Identify and understand forces in the masonry arch /vaults/domes foundation and
calculate forces in three hinge modern arches.
CO7
Retrieve basic fundamentals of thrust lines in arches, catenary,
funicular shapes in tensile structures.
